Attorney Michael Meehan is outside counsel to The Kavinoky Law Firm who dedicates himself to exploring every angle of his clients’ cases to ensure that they receive a top-notch defense. He approaches every case thoroughly and methodically, and leaves no stone unturned when exploring a client’s defense options.
Prior to entering law school, Michael worked for several years on the streets of Los Angeles, as a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After graduating from law school, Michael worked for several years with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor, before becoming a full-time defense attorney.
Michael’s experience as a law enforcement officer, prosecutor and defense attorney gives him a unique perspective on the cases he deals with, and really assists him in seeing all aspects of a case.
Michael is well versed in all areas of criminal law and really focuses on ensuring that every aspect of a person’s contact with law enforcement is carried out within the protections guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States, and the state of California. When a decision by a judge does not follow established case law or the Constitution, Michael is not afraid to appeal the case to a higher court. Michael’s tenacity has resulted in prior convictions being dismissed, arrests found unconstitutional and cases being dismissed when the police have not followed the law.
Finally, Michael is not afraid to take a case to trial. He has tried cases throughout California. He is well respected by courts throughout Northern California, and he is one of the managing attorneys in our San Francisco office.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA where he was student body president, and graduated from Loyola Law School. He is licensed to practice law in California, Tennessee and Kentucky.
Michael has devoted himself to improving his drunk driving defense knowledge and skills by attending the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers DUI / DWI summer conference. He is an active member of the NACDL and Balif.
